Rainwater Harvesting Systems

The concept of capturing rainwater and storing it for later use is well documented from pre-Roman times and on all the major continents, although in industrialised countries, until recently, the practice had largely died away with the introduction of reliable mains-supplied water.

With the ever-growing demand for water (and subsequent increases in cost), and the known adverse impacts this can have on local environments, the UK market demand for rainwater recycling systems is on the increase -mirroring what has already taken place in other industrialised countries.

Rainwater Harvesting can also be a key factor where planning consents are more environmentally dependent, where there are specific water outflow restrictions or where there are possibilities of local flooding.

Our Rainwater Harvesting systems are based on the highest quality, rotationally moulded, one piece tanks, installed without the need for concrete, thereby minimising installation costs and supported by our long term 25 year guarantee.

Rainwater harvesting is simply collecting rain which falls onto roofs, then storing it and using it as a free resource.

The advantages of rainwater harvesting are:

• Saves money by reducing your water usage
• A volume of water is kept out of the storm-water management system thereby helping to reduce flooding risks
• Gains Eco-homes rating points for your property,
• And rainwater is better for your garden as it has a balanced ph and is free of chemicals such as chlorine.

Rainwater Harvesting Systems can be very simple such as a water butt located under a down pipe from your guttering that you use to fill a watering can or connect to an inexpensive syphon hose to water your garden.

Some of the larger systems even have Solar PV panels to generate the power to drive the pumping and water management systems that ensure that the system is topped up by mains water when rainwater is scarce.
